Style: Vetements Spring/Summer 2017 Collection

The most highly anticipated collection of the season has finally made its debut at Paris’ Spring/Summer '17 fashion week. As mentioned in last week’s post, Vetements tapped into 18 iconic brands for its SS17 line and created a collection that infused the brands flawlessly. The line showcased a vast number of men and women’s garments, ranging from distressed hoodies to thigh high boots, and was styled in an effortlessly and cool disheveled look that high-end brands seem to love. Vetements even paid homage to Juicy Couture’s popular velour tracksuit — redesigning the classic co-ord. to a skin-tight cat suit  with “Juicy” bedazzled on the four arms and rear end. Does this mean Juicy is making a comeback? Is the velour tracksuit (or cat suit) the next new trend???

Check out some of my favorite pieces from the collection and test your brand knowledge to see if you can identify all 18 collaborating brands.

Movement: What Do You Really Really Want For Girls And Women?

The Global Goals’ feminist campaign tapped into everyone’s favorite 90’s girl-power group to make noise and spread female empowerment worldwide. Recreating Spice Girl’s “Wannabe," the campaign serves as a message to World Leaders and the Secretary General of the United Nations to acknowledge and tackle the inequalities that girls and women face on a daily basis.

News: Could This Be The Collaboration of the Century?

If you haven’t heard, Vetements is the brand of 2016.

You may have seen Vetements long silhouette raincoat, uneven hemmed jeans, or yellow DHL branded tee dominating the streets at PFW S/S ‘16 and thought to yourself, “What’s up with this ve-te-ments brand?”

Pronounced vent-mohn, Creative Director Demna Gvasalia’s sudden and explosive rise in fashion is the result of reworking traditional pieces into streetwear and high fashion designs – thus the ultimate ‘it’ brand for ‘it’ girls/boys/Hypebeasts/fuck boys was born.

Icon: Remembering Bill Cunningham

Last Saturday, we lost one of the greatest mavericks in the fashion industry — Bill Cunningham. Known for his blue French workman’s jacket, Cunningham’s keen eye has defined fashion trends and inspired the art of street-style photography.

I’ll never forget the first time I encountered Bill Cunningham. Within the crowd of fashion’s elite, I spotted his iconic jacket as I was leaving the Skylight Clarkson Square for NYFW: Men’s. It was a very surreal moment because to me, he was equivalent to a mythical creature. I guess I expected him to be part of fashion’s elite versus standing behind the velvet ropes and observing them.

Beauty: It Doesn't Get Any Sweeter Than This — Glossier x Morgenstern's Push-Pop Collab.

Usually New York windy days calls for Netflexing and chilling — and I'm being literal; or maybe not. But what happens when your sweet tooth is out of control and the treat that you want is not on Seamless???

This was the predicament that I was in yesterday but I knew exactly how I was going to satisfy my craving. I took a huge risk leaving my nice and warm apartment to take a trip to one of my favorite ice cream shops, Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream NYC — and boy, did I found myself in for a treat.
