My Movin' and Groovin' Playlist

I think we can all agree that moving sucks. But moving in New York City is one of the worst things in LIFE and I’m not exaggerating. Let me paint a picture:

  • Found a cute bench/ottoman on Craigslist? Call Uber and hope you get a Suburban or haul it onto the crowded train.
  • Want to take home the perfect industrial dinning table you’ve been eying for months? Good luck on getting any type of car service or bringing it onto the train; your best bet is to carry it home.
  • Just bought all of your furniture at Ikea? You can either 1) pay $100+ for the furniture to be delivered to your apartment or 2) rent a U-Hal and drive through the scary pedestrian streets of NYC.
  • Finally made it back to your apartment? If you’re one of the 80% New Yorkers living in a non-elevator building, you’ll have to carry your furniture up the winding stairs.

Luckily for me, my new apartment has an elevator (yaaaaasss).

As I did almost all of the above during my Thanksgiving weekend, I surprisingly found a sense of calm, peace, and balance during my hectic moving experience — thanks to music.

Music was my savior.

With a mix of my favorite old-school hip hop jams and up-and-coming musicians, the beats and sounds of the songs placed me in the perfect moving trance. After the blood, sweat, and tears, I can official say that I’m now super excited to decorate my new apartment and turn it into a home. Check out my Movin’ Soundtrack and peep what songs got me into the moving groove. Also, don’t forget to follow me on Spotify
